Cosmetic Peptides

Carnosine

Product Specification
Synonyms Ignotine, Karnozzn, Karnozin
INCI Name Carnosine
CAS No. 305-84-0
Sequence β-Ala-His
Molecular Formula C9H14N4O3
Molecular Weight 226.2
Applications anti-wrinkle, anti-aging, antioxidant
Description
  • Known scientifically as beta-alanyl-L-histidine.
  • Composed of one molecule each of the amino acids histidine and beta-alanine, and is therefore
    known chemically as a dipeptide.
  • The L form or isomer, of carnosine is biologically active in humans.
L-carnosine is generally found throughout the bodies of animals, although is most concentrated
    in the brain and muscles.
Funcions
  • Combats the effects of glycation
  • Has anti-aging capabilities
  • Possesses strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties
  • Linked with improved muscle function and athletic performance
Mode of action Blocks the nonenzymatic glycosylation and protein cross-linking process induced
by reactive aldehydes.
